At Poznań University of Life Sciences, our Bachelor’s and Engineering degree programs provide a solid foundation for students. These first-cycle studies are closely aligned with the scientific work carried out by our staff across various research units.
The curricula for these programs delve into areas where extensive scientific research is conducted. Each BSc and EngSc program includes an individual student’s project, supervised by a staff member who acts as the promoter for the bachelor’s and engineering thesis.
Access to first-cycle studies is open to all graduates of secondary education, as well as holders of an equivalent of a high school diploma. Our BSc and EngSc graduates acquire in-depth knowledge in their respective fields, along with essential research and management skills.
BSc and EngSc degree holders have the opportunity to pursue second-cycle studies.

This is precisely the focus of the Crop Plant Biology and Production program. This course is dedicated to students who want to perform a managerial role in business entities and institutions or run their businesses internationally, especially in the food economy.
Course overview
The course provides knowledge of mechanisms of the functioning of the economy, including the agri-food economy, as well as tools and instruments of economic and social policy. You will be familiar with the spatial diversification of the economy and modern economic structures worldwide, with particular emphasis on the agri-food sector, including the role of food supply chain management. We will help you understand the fundamental dilemmas of modern civilization, including the elements and basic principles of the functioning of the financial system, institutions, and financial markets. We will provide you the knowledge in the field of the principles of operation, management and financing of business activities on the domestic and international markets, with particular emphasis on entities in the agri-food sector. You will be familiar with selected methods of economic research, including methods of studying and forecasting economic phenomena and processes and experimental methods in behavioral economics. You will also be taught what legal provisions and activities related to establishing and running a business, with particular emphasis on entities in the agri-food sector. During the course, you can gain practical skills in identifying and analyzing economic policy, skills how to interpret the obtained results and the economic, social and environmental effects of economic policy, with a specific focus on the agri-food sector. After completing the course you will know how to select and use tools to identify and analyze foreign and international trade policies, interpret the obtained results and assess the economic and social impacts of these policies, with a specific focus on the agri-food sector
Faculty of Economics is known for the research in the fields of agricultural economics, regional and social policy in rural areas, international business, production and management in agribusiness companies, and consumption economics. The course teachers carry out research focused on socio-economic problems of the agri-food sector and rural areas in the EU countries, the influence of the agricultural policies measures on the development of agriculture and rural areas, international trade and in agri-food products, the competitiveness of the agri-food sector concerning regional and international markets, finance management in agribusiness companies and agricultural law, and they will be eager to share their experience with you. We invite students who are motivated to gain knowledge about economics and finance management in the agri-food sector, as well as the necessary qualifications to manage business projects, provide advisory services, and make rational decisions when operating in a (national and international) market economy environment. Our students will also receive training in running their businesses internationally, especially in the food economy.
Career options
Graduates are prepared to undertake jobs in business entities including junior-level management, especially in the agriculture and food industry, a specialist in the management of financial, human and material resources in production, services and trade enterprises. You will also be able to work in other institutions and economic organizations, such as banks or insurance companies, chambers of commerce, local and central government units, regional government units, consulting firms or international organizations related to the agri-food sector. You will also be prepared to run your own business internationally or to go on to work in research and education.

BSc in Land Resource Management
at the Faculty of Environmental and Mechanical Engineering
The growth of the world’s population entails an increasing demand for energy resulting from the intensification of industrial production and agriculture. In turn, these exploit the environment’s resources and produce large amounts of waste and pollution. Consequently, new experts and specialists who will manage the environmental resources are required for the national and international economies in the future. The role of robust management in the land resources area will be crucial. The presented educational offer is addressed to those who would like to make an effort to study in English and gain the unique knowledge, skills, and competencies of this type. Expectedly, their involvement in land resources jobs will be necessary in the future in Poland, Europe, and other world regions.
Course overview
The proposed graduation program in LRM can effectively impart the knowledge and skills necessary to address today’s socio-economic challenges by integrating theory and practice. Because of these, the designed educational path is based on groups of subjects necessary for achieving relevant learning outcomes. The applied classification is as follows:
- General subjects including mathematics, physics, environmental chemistry, ecology, biotechnology, spatial engineering and natural resource management, geoinformation, and engineering graphics. These subjects will be presented in proper socio-economic and environmental contexts.
- Subjects linking socio-economic and legal issues to create public awareness and effectively implement economic transformation processes. These will be presented in the context of covering a wide range of activities with special emphasis on a changing climate. They include the analysis of social, economic, and legal mechanisms of environmental impact and the development of strategies and solutions that promote sustainable development while reducing the negative effects of climate change. The discussed fields include environmental economics, natural resource economics, sustainability management, energy policy, public policy analysis, and social science, among others.
- Environmental subjects that take into account inventory, valorization, environmental assessment, principles of air protection, climate, animate nature systems, soil and water environment, and circulation of matter and energy in the environment.
- Technological subjects and subjects, including issues related to technical infrastructure, are crucial for solving engineering tasks in spatial management. Among others, there are ecological construction, water supply, sewage disposal, landfill, energy, and transportation systems in rural areas. These will be completed by issues of spatial engineering, water management, agricultural and forestry technologies related to soil conservation, reclamation, revitalization, and regulations governing their availability and use are applied
- Subjects presenting techniques and tools of information technology. These are mainly aimed at areas like spatial data resources, ways of acquiring and processing data, and health and safety requirements for working with data. Surveying, cartography, urban planning, construction, and environmental engineering are also there. This group of subjects includes principles of engineering graphics, too. The above-mentioned subjects are necessary for the planning and managing of space, both in urbanized and non-urbanized areas.
Admission & Tuition fee
- The prerequisite for admission to English-language first-degree programs is the knowledge of English at the B2 level, which will be verified in the recruitment process.
- The basis for the qualification procedure for Polish citizens, is the score resulting from the summary by Senate Resolution 162/2023 of the Poznan University of Life Sciences dated June 28, 2021. on the conditions and mode of recruitment for full-time and part-time first-degree studies and uniform master’s studies for the academic year 2023/2024: the result of the matriculation exam or the matriculation exam (old matriculation) in two subjects – constituting 80% of the points, the result of the matriculation exam (from the written part) or the matriculation exam (from the written or oral part) in Polish language and a foreign language – 20% of the points.
- A candidate, a Polish citizen and a foreigner who graduated from high school abroad may apply for admission to the first year of first-cycle studies if the secondary school certificate or other equivalent document in his possession entitles him to apply for admission to higher education in the country where he graduated from high school.
- In the case of candidates from Qinghai Nationalities University in the People’s Republic of China, the basis for qualification will be the provisions of the agreement of June 2022 between the Poznan University of Life Sciences, the Polish-Chinese Foundation for Academic Cooperation and Quzhong Joaoyu Keji Youxian Gonsi, based in Beijing (PRC), regarding the 2+2 program implemented under this agreement. According to the provisions of Annex 2 to this Agreement (item 2 Rules of Recruitment), the decision on eligibility for Land Resource Management studies after submission of all necessary documents and recognition of learning outcomes is made by the Dean of the Faculty to which the candidate applies.
- Candidates are admitted within the limit of places in the qualification process, which includes establishing a ranking list based on the results of secondary school certificates. The prerequisites for admission are possessing a high school diploma, submitting a complete set of documents within the prescribed deadlines, and fulfilling the requirements of the qualification process applicable to a particular field of study. This includes obtaining the appropriate number of points in the enrollment process by the regulations in effect for the academic year.
- The direction is chargeable. The fee for studies conducted in English for foreigners and Poles who take up studies is determined by the Order No. 35/2024 of the Rector of the Poznan University of Life Sciences dated April 25, 2024, and is EUR 900 per semester + enrollment fee (65 EUR for non-EU candidates and 85 PLN for EU candidates and NAWA scholarship holders)

- The study program enables the preparation of highly qualified managers. Its formation focuses on specialized content, including local government and spatial planning. It also includes modern methods of processing and analyzing spatial data and risk management in planning.
- Graduates will also gain business management skills, raise funds for local development, and identify risks from industrial production, agricultural production, exploitation of environmental resources, and electricity demand.
- Within the study program’s framework, special emphasis is placed on managing environmental resources, focusing on their rational use to ensure proper spatial and environmental management. Effective spatial management and planning knowledge includes their use, diagnosis, analysis, and monitoring.
- The LRM degree program prepares graduates to manage the global economic landscape’s complexities effectively. Against the backdrop of global challenges, the program will enable graduates to effectively engage with issues related to urbanization, sustainable development and environmental management, and urban planning at various levels—from local to global.
